Verde on Smith

On Saturday a group of fifteen brunchers went to the restaurant Verde on Smith in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn for a Birthday Celebration. I frequently come to this spot and am never disappointed, so I was excited to bring some family and friends so they could also try it out.
Unfortunately, they weren't that impressed. Maybe the head chef was off that day, but the majority of the food lacked its usual pizazz. I ordered my usual, Salmon with Spinach and Couscous served with a light caper sauce for $18 and I was satisfied.

Probably because I obviously opted for the bottomless drink option for $16.95 added to your meal. That deal gets you bottomless Champagne, mimosas, bellinis’ (peach, mango, raspberry, strawberry), screwdrivers, or Bloody Mary’s for 2hrs.
Unlike a lot of bottomless drinks brunch restaurants, the mimosas and bellinis’ are very strong and the waiter refills your glass promptly, major brownie points in my book. The rest of my party ordered a variety of omelets and pancakes. The pancakes were definitely divine.

The service here has been amazing, after we paid our bill that amounted to $400+ and a generous tip we were asked to leave because they had people waiting to be seated. Now we understand restaurants have a business to run and money to make, but that was a very sour ending to an okay brunch experience.

Don't know if I'll be back anytime soon, but Verde is a great place for a casual brunch, with strong bottomless drinks!
